The Green Club
Olympic & The Wilding Project works hard to limit our carbon footprint.
Here's 5 Ways our club implements smart sustainability practices for the environment.
List of Services
-
We catch our own WaterList Item 2
The gym uses fresh rain water directly from a catchment storage tank. When water is required it is pumped through a UV treatment device, and sent where needed such as our outside taps, changerooms, kitchen, or our water machine. Our water is regularly tested to meet important safety standards.
-
We've gone SolarList Item 1
Our facility is mainly powered by solar panels, located on the roof of the gym. When the weather's right, we use the solar generated energy to power our lights, air conditioners, water pump, sound system, kitchen appliances and office equipment.
-
Limit Electricity UseList Item 3
Our gym mimimises the use of electricity where-ever possible. Most of our lights are LED's which are effective and better for the environment. We have a 'Power Down' policy when the gym is unoccupied, and also use powered systems incrementally where feasible such as our Air conditioning. The building also has clear perspex panels around the peremiter, which emits natural light into the facility.
-
Minimise Waste and RecycleList Item 4
Our 700+ family visitations per week produces no more than 1 small red council bin of rubbish. It's always our goal to keep it to no-more than this. We recyle where possible, such as re-purposing & recycling old gym equipment, and disposing plastics and aluminium in a recyle bag. We also do most communications to members online, to limit the use of paper. Infact our club uses no more than 8 x 500 Reams of paper per annum.

We're kind to our Surrounding Wildlife
Our club is situated on 5 acres of bushland in Jandakot, Western Australia. The club is surrounded by 100's of species of native plants and Banksia woodland. Often visitors can see various animals such as Native birds, Ie: Honey Eaters, Black Cockatoos and Kookaburras. There's also ground dwelling animals such as Rabbits, Quandras and Blue Tounge Lizards. All visitors acknowledge the land for which we are situated. Our staff and visiting families all observe, care and respect the surrounding natural environment on the property which is important and appreciated.
