  • Class Description

'Recreational Gymnastics is all about developing Cool Skills! '

Coaches assist the students through their movement journey through a safe and effective curriculum of skills.

    PRE-PRIMARY (5-6yrs)

When pre-primary aged students join Olympic we start them in PRE-STEP. The program teaches students all the necessary safety procedures and gymnastic movements for developing confidence on the apparatus. Students are not graded and earn achievement awards throughout the year with an emphasis on quality learning, participation and FUN.

    THE STEP PROGRAM (6-14years)

STEP is Olympic’s flagship junior gymnastic and fitness program made specifically for primary school aged kids. The program is our most popular and longest running program and it’s exclusive to Olympic. It is designed to learn skills in a fun way to develop self-esteem and physical competence. There are six ‘Steps’ in the program that take a young athlete from a beginner to an intermediate level. Typically students are on a Step for between 1-3 terms. Each participant is individually graded each term so progress is incrementally safe and effective

    ADVANCED GYMNASTICS

Gymnasts who are in our Advanced class are in levels 5, 6, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Students in our Advanced class are beginning to connect skills into routines, with the view to showcase them to family and friends at our bi-annual event. (End of Term 2 & 4) Our Advanced students will require more comittment, and train on Tues and/or Friday 5-7PM.

    Club Competitions (for FUN!)

Students in Bronze, Silver or Gold levels are also invited to 'Team Futures' competitions, which are delivered by our club affiliate 'Recreational Gymnastics Australia' (RGA). This give us the opportunity to showcase against other recreational gymnasts from other clubs! The format is fun and friendly, with lots of changes to traditional competition formats. An example is that the gymnasts all start with a score of 10, and the score can only grow from there, based on skills achieved. So, there's no deducting! All performances are seen as positive, and acievements are celebrated for TRYING.
