In PRE-STEP Students learn all the necessary safety procedures and gymnastic movements necessary for developing confidence on the tumble tramp, bars, balance beam, floor, climbing walls and much more.
Students work as individuals and in teams. They earn achievement awards throughout the year with an emphasis on quality learning, participation and fun. Pre-STEP students are not graded but don’t be fooled. PRE-STEP kids definitely get the jump on anyone joining Olympic as a primary-aged student!

STEP is a fun way to develop self-esteem and physical competence. All traditional male and female gymnastic events are covered and girls and boys train together. This means that girls will learn events like the parallel bars and rings (traditionally male gym events) and the boys will practice beam (traditionally a female gym event).
There are six ‘steps’ in the program that take a young athlete from a beginner to an intermediate level. Each participant is individually graded so progress can be tailored to the child’s ability.
Included in the syllabus is hand apparatus (balls, hoops, skipping ropes and bean bags), essential running and climbing skills and general physical fitness activities (flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination). You can learn more about STEP in the tutorial below.
